Bridges abound in New York City, a municipality whose major sections, called boroughs are separated in whole, or part, by waterways. Every borough has at least 1 suspension bridge connection to another borough, the last such span built being the Verrazano Narrows Bridge linking Brooklyn to Staten Island. Many non suspension bridges also cross rivers, creeks, streets and highways.
