Bridge lights, within the New York City Metropolitan Area anyway, tended to be of distinct varieties that then became the lighting standard for arterial highways built afterwards, only rarely used on lesser roadways. Outstanding examples were the Triborough and Bronx-Whitestone Bridge lamppost standards.
