One
of an increasingly rare breed of fire alarm boxes, hanging out
on Highland Blvd. by the Jackie R. entrance, with its buddy hydrant.
Our mayor recently lost a battle to remove all alarm boxes from
the streets, to cut down on false alarms. He never did explain
to my satisfaction how he expected legitimate alarms to be placed.
I'm happy enough, that these quaint lifesavers will remain around
a while longer. Taken in May, 1997. |
