Back to Floral Park for the first time
in a decade, primarily to do research for my endless book project;
part of which takes place here. actually, this is along the border
with the neighboring village of Bellerose. These Duncan parking
meters probably go back quite a ways. When they were brand new,
I'll bet nobody realized they were painted bronze. These are
not the style of meters one sees within New York City, so they
appear all the wierder on a street lit by NYC style lighting,
as this section of Jericho Tpke appears to belong to both Queens
and Nassau Counties. In NYC, meters are gradually being changed
over to digital readout models. To many from the city, these
Duncans would seem to be antiques already. |
