This was one of
5th Avenue's original twin-lamp poles from the turn of the century,
as it stood in 1983. It's distinguishable from the 1920-30's
versions, by it's shorter masts and the big globe in the center,
between the masts. At the time this was taken, it had a Landmark
placard on it. It still had it's depression era incandescent
Bell fixtures. Vehicles don't respect placards, however, and
this has since disappeared. I'm told by a friend that it's base
still stands, devoid of it's once proud pole. |
