I'm on the corner of Avenue
U and East 2nd Street, on a cloudy day sometime in 1982. This
was back in the dark days of my 110 instamatic. My building is
next to the Power Test station. Remember Power Test? Of all the
billboards that hung on my building, just above my bedroom's
outer wall, the Clark was my favorite. Since my neighborhood
tended to be into cars, a star mechanic was a star indeed. This
station proudly proclaimed it's acquisition of one of Gravesend's
recognised stars with at least 2 signs. The Duster was not mine,
unfortunately. I loved those old Dusters. I owned a 1974 Pontiac
Ventura 350 at the time. By the time I moved from here in 1996,
the Power Test station had long since disappeared, replaced by
a used car lot and the next corner, East 3rd, had received overhead
traffic lights. |
