Virtually
all overhead traffic lights, attached to utility poles within
NYC, hang off of one of these single guywire-type masts. This
one was shot in 1992, at the confluence of Rockaway's Beach Channel
Drive, Freeway and Seagirt Avenue. The badly neglected intersection
still made do with the old 2-light traffic lights. This mast
holds the modern style 2-lighter. Some oldstyle box signals were
still at this intersection as well. Modern 2-light signals were
forced into action whenever a corner needed a new signal, but
the rest of the intersection still had 2-light box signals. |
