 Even water crossings
can have alternate lifestyles. Where bridge directionals normally
are shields and tunnel signs are disks, the Marine Pkwy Bridge,
linking Flatbush Avenue with the Rockaways, swings both ways,
with it's directional, that always reminds me of that wing-eared
gremlin character in a Bugs Bunny WWII era cartoon.This one posed on Kings Hwy, near Avenue D, in East Flatbush. Regarding the Rockaways, I think NYers are split among those who refer to the Rockaways in plural, versus those who refer to Rockaway, single and without the "The". Exactly how many Rockaways are there, anyway? |
