Photo Gallery Roadway Fixtures
 These
light-box signs used to be all over New York City to alert people
to the presence of emergency call boxes attached to the same
lamppost as the sign. I was shocked to find this relatively intact
specimen on East End Avenue on the upper East Side of Manhattan,
a block from the FDR. I'd almost forgotten they existed, it had
been so long since I'd seen them. |
