Grand Central Parkway Interboro Kew Gardens Interchange

Grand Central Parkway Interboro Kew Gardens Interchange Image 0The Grand Central Parkway westbound in May 1997, at the entrance to what was up until then the Interboro Parkway, or more formally, the Interborough Parkway. The "Interboro" directional signs were changed to read "J. Robinson Pkwy" shortly after these photos were taken, as the parkway was officially renamed for late Brooklyn Dodger great Jackie Robinson.
The backdrop is a sea of 6 story red brick apartment houses, mostly built in the 1940s and 1950s, typical of the Forest Hills neighborhood.
