Brooklyn-Queens Expressway North from Queens Boulevard

Brooklyn-Queens Expressway North from Queens Boulevard Image 0First of two northbound views of the Brooklyn Queens Expressway taken from its Queens Boulevard overpass in Woodside, June 1998. The rusting twin mast lamp post in the center median sports Thomas Betts 123 sodium vapor luminaires, which were probably the most common cobra head in use at the time in NYC. Today both the pole and the TB-123s would be museum pieces. looking at the same scene on Google Earth as of 2017, the center median lighting is gone and I assume most TB-123s have been replaced by wafer thin LED lamps.
Brooklyn-Queens Expressway North from Queens Boulevard Image 1Second shot taken same June 1998 day, highlighting the southbound ramp leading up from the BQE to Queens Boulevard. amazingly, the single mast lamp post lining the ramp just before the LIRR bridge, or after it if your focal point is from the direction of traffic, still survives, or at least survived as late as 2017 when Google Earth captured it.
