Bronx-Whitestone Bridge is a suspension bridge that opened in 1939, connecting The Bronx with the Whitestone section of Queens. It's distinctive solid arch tower design completed the departure begun by the George Washington Bridge from the intricate open grid-work towers of older suspension bridges, of which the Triborough was the last such example.
