Cast iron lampposts were the dominant street lighting standards type in New York City prior to World War II. Four distinctive style groups formed the bulk of those deployed: the cane shaped Bishop Crooks, the Type F reverse scroll, the Type G/M24 long, straight armed masts and the twin lamp.
